Mosaic Monday: WEX

By May 12, 2022Blog

For today’s Mosaic Monday, we are featuring WEX, our 2022 Corporate Care Award Recipient. Like Spurwink, WEX is committed to social equity, mental health, and expanding opportunities for all Mainers to lead healthy, engaged lives in their communities. From every angle, we see WEX leading the way to shape and support the whole of the mosaic: a vision of children, adults, and families affected by behavioral health challenges and developmental disabilities living healthy, engaged lives in their communities.

The community has always been at the heart of WEX’s values. A keystone of philanthropic support in our community, WEX’s support of Spurwink and other non-profit organizations has helped to fund a wide range of social services and opportunities for many in greater Portland and beyond. WEX employees have been very active in our school supply and holiday gift drives. For example, this past year WEX’s NexGen affinity group collected enough school supplies to support over 100 students, ensuring that kids in Maine have the tools they need to succeed in school.

Built into WEX’s ethos as a community partner is a deep belief that being a good corporate citizen is about showing up and helping to do the work as our communities grow and adapt to help best serve all of us. It is this belief that has guided their approach to philanthropic support and volunteerism over many years. Underlying this work is a deep belief in creating communities where social equality is a priority. Their grants help level the playing field in many areas to ensure access to opportunity for all and help communities to thrive. WEX supports a wide range of nonprofits with a focus on organizations active in supporting the arts, education, social equality, and wellbeing, making them incredibly deserving of the 2022 Corporate Care Award.

“WEX is proud to receive the Corporate Care award this year. Our partnership with Spurwink embodies many values core to the WEX culture: community, integrity, relationships, execution; and marries that with support for an organization addressing critically important issues of mental and behavioral health in our state.  We have great respect for the impact that Spurwink is making in our community and look forward to a continued partnership.” -Hilary A. Rapkin, Chief Legal Officer, WEX Inc.

Thank you, WEX, for your involvement and dedication to helping ensure access to care for those affected by behavioral health and intellectual disabilities.
