With belief in the importance of self-determination, individual choice, and the dignity of risk, we work to assist consumers in developing, strengthening and maintaining connections with their natural supports and other significant relationships. Our goal is to increase or maintain a consumer’s ability to be a successful, contributing, and accepted member of his or her community. Many of the Spurwink homes are staffed by ‘therapeutic couples’ who also live in the home a majority of the time. This staffing model has been very beneficial for individuals who require structure, predictability, consistency, and development of long-term relationships. Many of our couples have worked in our homes with the same individuals for over 5 years. Several couples have worked in our homes with the same individuals for over 10 years.
