Since 2010, Ben Dearnley, owner and farmer of Life Force Farm a diversified organic vegetable CSA in Bowdoinham, has been working at Spurwink’s Chelsea Day Treatment School to expand its therapeutic gardening program by sharing his farming know-how with students and getting them involved in garden planning, preparation, seed ordering, planting, transplanting, harvesting and tracking yield to foster healthy eating, as well as improving the students’ knowledge of science and mathematics – all while instilling a joy of gardening and vocational skills.
