CCCAC Chosen for Portland Food Co-Op’s Register Round-Up Program

By April 3, 2023Blog

The Cumberland County Children’s Advocacy Center (CCCAC) has been selected to receive a donation from Portland Food Co-Op as part of their Register Round-Up for the month of April. This thoughtful donation is timely, as April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Be sure to visit the Co-Op this month to show your support.

The CCCAC provides a safe, neutral and child-centered place for coordinated evaluations of children following an allegation of sexual abuse, including concerns of exploitation or trafficking of youth. Using evidence-based best practices, the CCCAC multi-disciplinary team members (Child Protective Services, local, state, and federal law enforcement, and Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office) are committed to the minimization of trauma though a streamlined, non-repetitious and timely evaluation process. Accessible, on-going support for children and their non-offending family members and legal guardians will always be of paramount importance to the Cumberland team.

The purpose of the CCCAC is to promote closer collaboration with child abuse response agencies, reduce the number of investigative interviews for children, hold more offenders accountable, and effectively coordinate medical, mental health, advocacy, and legal services for the victim and non-offending family members. The CCCAC is an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance.
