Be a Part of the Mosaic: 2023 Humanitarian Awards
Join us at this year’s Humanitarian Awards on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at a new location — Ocean Gateway in Portland. This year we honor Mufalo Chitam, Executive Director, Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition, and KeyBank, who will receive the Corporate Care Award. This year’s theme is Sea Glass, and reflects a beautiful metaphor for the path that Spurwink walks alongside the people we serve.

CCCAC Chosen for Portland Food Co-Op's Register Round-Up Program in April
The Cumberland County Children's Advocacy Center (CCCAC) has been selected to receive a donation from Portland Food Co-Op as part of their Register Round-Up program for the month of April. This thoughtful donation is timely, as April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Proud Supporter of ASM's Walk for Autism 2023
Spurwink is a proud sponsor of Autism Society of Maine's Walk for Autism 2023 events. Walks will be held in Westbrook on Sunday, April 23rd, and in Bangor on Sunday, April 30th. LEARN ABOUT SPURWINK SERVICES

Shared Living: The Pierce Family
Meet the Pierce family. Mark and Lisa Pierce are Shared Living Providers to their son Brandon, who is an adult living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). When Mark and Lisa learned about Shared Living, they interviewed with multiple agencies, and ultimately joined Spurwink’s program in October 2021.

Raising Autism Awareness & Providing Needed Services
April is World Autism Awareness Month. The National Center for Disease Control & Prevention’s most recent data indicate that about one in 36 children in the U.S. have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and that ASD is reported to occur in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.

GRANTS IN ACTION
Marr-Anderson: Enabling Access to Care When it's Needed Most
For many of us, the warming temperatures and brighter days of spring breathe new life into our dreams for the future. At Spurwink, we also know that for many, dreaming of the future can be a challenge when immediate circumstances seem insurmountable. Spurwink is proudly supported by the Marr-Anderson Family Foundation, who understands that encouraging individuals to fulfill their dreams means offering compassionate support during difficult times when one’s dreams may be put on hold.
