Lisa Cash has been a licensed therapist since 2010 and entered private practice in 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic began. Based in Brunswick, Maine, Lisa works exclusively with adults and has a particular passion for supporting clients transitioning from higher levels of care, such as hospitalization, IOP, or ACT programs. Her commitment to serving low-income populations—including those with MaineCare and Medicare—has remained a cornerstone of her practice.

Lisa joined Spurwink as an Affiliate Provider five years ago, seeking a supportive and efficient partnership that would allow her to focus on clinical care. After experiencing limited support at a previous agency, she connected with Spurwink’s Affiliate Program and quickly transitioned her caseload. Since then, Lisa has found the experience to be transformative.

“Spurwink allows me to concentrate on being a therapist,” Lisa shares. “They handle the administrative side—insurance, credentialing, billing, records requests—so I can focus on my clients. And because I’m a contractor, I retain full control over my business, including my schedule, location, and caseload.”

Beyond administrative support, Lisa values the sense of community Spurwink fosters. Monthly supervision and a network of diverse providers offer opportunities for collaboration and consultation. When faced with a complex case outside her specialty, Lisa was able to connect with another Affiliate for guidance—an experience she says wouldn’t have been possible in traditional agency work.

Lisa’s journey into social work was inspired by a desire to make a meaningful impact. After years in restaurant management, she pivoted toward a career that aligned with her values. Her personal experiences—including caring for her daughter through a serious illness—have deepened her empathy and strengthened her resolve to help others find hope and healing.

“Spurwink’s mission to serve those in need has remained steadfast,” Lisa says. “I’ve seen staff grow and evolve, but the heart of the organization hasn’t changed. I’m proud to be part of a community that truly supports both its providers and the clients we serve.”

Lisa continues to recommend Spurwink to new providers exploring affiliate opportunities. Her story is a testament to the power of purpose, resilience, and the right professional partnership.
