Spurwink’s Senior Director of Adult Behavioral Health, Ben Strick, has recently been appointed to the State Board of Social Worker Licensure by Governor Janet Mills. A snippet from the press release reads:
Augusta, MAINE — Governor Janet Mills announced today that she has recently appointed Benjamin Strick, Karen Lemoine, and Christopher Leighton to the State Board of Social Worker Licensure, and reappointed Linda Butler, Lee-Andra D’Attilio and Angela Fileccia.
Strick of Portland joined Spurwink Services in 2006 and held several positions of increasing responsibility before assuming his current role as Senior Director of Adult Behavioral Health. In his time at Spurwink, Strick has worked with individuals across multiple settings including residential, education, outpatient, substance use disorders, adult, and child and family services. In addition to his role at Spurwink he also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Southern Maine Community College, and has given presentations for national organizations on refugee trauma, child social and emotional competence, and evidence based practices.
Along with this appointment, Strick has also been appointed to the Independent Panel to Review the Use of Deadly Force by Law Enforcement Officers in September as that of a mental health professional.
