2022 Humanitarian Awards Raises Funds, Showcases Spurwink’s Mosaic

By June 16, 2022July 26th, 2022Blog

Thank you to everyone who helped with this year’s Humanitarian Awards! It was a huge success, raising over $175,000 and having 275 people in attendance. At its core, Spurwink is about dignity, respect, and providing access to health care to the people who need it most. Our theme for this year’s Humanitarian was Mosaic, and shows how vital each person and their unique stories create the Mosaic of Spurwink. View our Mosaic video, which shares several stories of people who are a part of Spurwink’s mosaic.

We also have pictures from the evening festivities on Facebook! View the photo album here.

We are pleased to recognize Margo Walsh as Spurwink’s 2022 Humanitarian. Spurwink has learned the importance of community-based mental health services for those with co-occurring mental health issues and substance use disorders. The disparities experienced by these individuals reach beyond behavioral health care and include a lack of access to employment. Margo Walsh created MaineWorks to address this community need and her work is very closely aligned with Spurwink’s. In fact, MaineWorks has employed individuals who have received services at Spurwink and Margo shares Spurwink’s vision of creating opportunities for all Mainers to live healthy, engaged lives in their communities. MaineWorks is a vital community partner and an integral part of Spurwink’s mosaic.

This year’s Corporate Care Award was given to WEX, whose commitment to being a good corporate citizen is about showing up and helping do the work as our communities grow and evolve to help best serve all of us. Underlying this work is a deep belief in creating community where social equality is a priority.
