PORTLAND — Spurwink Services was chosen as the nonprofit beneficiary for the inaugural Portland 10 Miler road race to be held Sunday, April 22.

Spurwink serves 6,800 Maine families, children and individuals affected by developmental disabilities and behavioral health issues, according to spokeswoman Abby Peck.

The race begins and ends at Payson Park near Back Cove, following a course along Baxter Boulevard, the Back Cove Trail and the Eastern Promenade. Peck said race entrants come from 14 states and 35 percent are from Maine.

Following the race, Rising Tide Brewing Co. and local food trucks will be providing food and beverages for a party at Payson Park.
