Affiliate Provider Spotlight: Jill E.B. Avery, LCSW

By January 24, 2023January 26th, 2023Blog

Spurwink Affiliate Providers are able to run their practices without having to tackle back-end office work, such as paperwork, insurance, and billing that come with having your own practice. We’ve found that Affiliate Providers have enjoyed partnering with us in various ways, and we have the opportunity to showcase some of them.

This Affiliate Spotlight is highlighting Jill E.B. Avery, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has been in social work for 23 years and runs a private practice. When asked what inspired her to go into this field, she noted that she’s always known that she’d be going into a field of helping others. “My mother was a social worker and my grandmother was constantly volunteering during my childhood.” After receiving her undergraduate in psychology, she decided to go to graduate school for social work.

In the past, she worked more with younger children and did a lot of play therapy, but has gradually transitioned into working more with teens and adults. She said that teens can be the most challenging to break through with but it’s so rewarding when they reach that point. She has had many return to see her over the years.

Reflecting on her experience in working with Spurwink, she added that it has been great and very supportive in a difficult job, noting that support during the pandemic was “crucial.” She made a quick transition to telehealth with support from Spurwink, and continues to use telehealth in her practice two days a week. It works as an option during inclement weather or when there is high germ transmissibility in the community.

We are happy to call Jill a Spurwink Affiliate Provider and look forward to our continued work, together. You can see Jill’s Affiliate Provider profile here. To view more information about Affiliate Providers in general, visit spurwink.org/join-us/affiliate-providers.
