Spurwink continues to provide innovative solutions to meet urgent mental health needs in Maine. The new Living Room Crisis Center (LRCC) will provide an interim option between mobile crisis, law enforcement intervention, and the emergency department, in a warm and welcoming environment at 62 Elm Street in Portland. Governor Mills has made investments in mental health care, and Spurwink is partnering with the Department of Health and Human Services in opening the LRCC, the first program of its kind in Maine. The LRCC provides a voluntary and compassionate alternative for those experiencing a mental health crisis who might otherwise have been taken into law enforcement custody or to an emergency room.

Access & Schedule:
- The LRCC is open to anyone age 14+ on a walk-in basis
- Current hours are 7am to 7pm, seven days a week (eventually hours will be 24/7)
- Currently, psychiatry is available 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday
- For other needs, people can access mobile crisis and dial 774-HELP
Once the LRCC is open 24/7, access to psychiatry medications will be available for those who are struggling, along with medications for those experiencing acute withdrawal and want to start medication assisted treatment.
