Thank you to all who were a part of Spurwink’s most glamorous night of the year! Over 400 attendees enjoyed a beautiful evening at the 2018 Humanitarian Awards in October, where Brick South at Thompson’s Point was transformed into a 1940s nightclub.
We were thrilled to acknowledge the incredible work of our honorees: Danielle M. Conway, Professor of Law & Dean of the University of Maine Law School; Sun Life Financial; and Dick Tryon, founder and former Executive Director of Community Partners, Inc.
Gala co-chairs Melissa Coulombe and Erin Ovalle provided a “fireside chat” format that let attendees get to know the honorees in a more informal way. The silent and live auction, along with the paddle raise – led by Tom Sauterly of Tranzon Properties, Inc. – brought in over $30,000. We were also fortunate to hear first-hand accounts of Spurwink’s work with the refugee community from cultural broker Jacques Kanda, as well as from foster parent Brent Dunfee along with Spurwink client Waheed Leeman, who spoke about Spurwink’s residential and clinical services.
To see photos from the gala, visit our 2018 Humanitarian Facebook Album and be sure to tag yourself if you were there.
Our appreciation for the community’s support and championing of our biggest event of the year and for giving Spurwink the chance to speak about our work. We look forward to seeing you in 2019!
