Nathanna McGivney, LCSW

Regional Director of Outpatient and Community Services – Cumberland County

When I’m not working at Spurwink, I’m: A busy mom of two little boys, Alden age 6 and Callum age 3. I also coach an ice hockey team of enthusiastic 6-8 year olds!

Spurwink program that I connect with most deeply:  Behavioral Health Homes. I love the team-based, whole-health approach to case management. I value that BHH work builds on strengthening connections at home, at school, in the community, and with primary care to help people lead more fulfilling lives.

Why behavioral health matters to me: Because I believe the following: “Helping others in need is not only a responsibility of life;  it is what gives meaning to life” -Mollie Marti

My favorite way to de-stress:  Summer days spent on Sebago Lake!

Words to live by: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” -Gandhi

Most interesting thing I’ve read recently:  I am on a workgroup at Spurwink to improve smoking cessation efforts. I found the following article very compelling: https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/smoking-is-way-down-in-the-u-s-but-not-for-people-with-mental-illness/

The music I jam to alone in the car is:  Anything I can sing along to, usually rock or country.

Favorite pizza: Hawaiian or BBQ

Recent Netflix obsession:  ???? There is adult programming on Netflix?!?

Sweet or salty? Sweet!

Mountains or beach? Both! How fortunate that Mainers do not have to choose!
