Sun Life Financial is one of Spurwink’s valued Corporate Partners and has supported Spurwink in all sorts of ways over the past year! In addition to sponsoring the Spurwink Humanitarian Awards gala and Brews & Backpacks summer event, Sun Life also funded the organic garden at our Chelsea Program helping to build a garden at our Portland campus and hosted a farmers’ market that featured vegetables grown by students working in the Chelsea garden. Sun Life also increased access to mental health care, providing essential clinical services to multiple uninsured families. In addition, a student from our pre-vocational program at Glickman Academy had a job placement at Sun Life’s Scarborough office.
Sun Life is dedicated to helping their customers achieve financial security and to helping those who have been affected by a disability return successfully to the workforce. Spurwink is fortunate to have Dan Fishbein, President of Sun Life, and Cathy Liston, Vice President, Group and Voluntary Insurance Claims, serve on Spurwink’s Board of Directors. “We are excited to support Spurwink’s programs and services. We are committed to promoting healthy communities,” says Dan Fishbein. “We look forward to further collaboration with the pre-vocational students, many of whom are challenged by developmental disabilities and mental health issues, to help them become successful in their future employment.”
