Heather Jackson, LCSW

After originally getting a degree in anthropology, and then working in early childhood education, I later found myself wanting to combine my interests in human nature and human development via a degree in psychology. That pursuit led me to eventually seek a graduate degree in social work, with a focus on becoming a psychotherapist.

In 1999, I began working in my chosen field, and became involved with Dialectical Behavior Therapy-informed treatment early on. I was intensively trained in DBT in 2014, and also have extensive training and experience with many other modalities, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I have worked with a wide range of ages, and with a vast spectrum of issues. Clients who work with me find themselves encouraged to become active problem-solvers within their own lives, while also receiving the validation, support, and guidance needed to navigate the challenges they are facing.

A favorite quote by Goethe sums up my basic treatment philosophy: “Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them become what they are capable of becoming.” I look forward to working with you.
