ShifaME Community Orientation: Portland/Westbrook Area
November 29, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeSpurwink is announcing ShifaME, a National Child Traumatic Stress Network initiative made possible by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
In collaboration with Boston Children Hospital’s Refugee Trauma and Resilience Center, ShifaME delivers Trauma Systems Therapy for Refugees (TST-R) as a multi-tiered, community-oriented health promotion model that will improve access to trauma-informed mental health services for refugee children and adolescents in the Portland and Westbrook areas.
Spurwink Cultural Brokers support the ShifaME program, who combine intimate community-level knowledge, experience, and language access with an understanding of services and institutions to facilitate access to services.
Join us for our community orientation on Thursday, November 29th at 1:00pm at the Portland Public Library at Monument Way and Elm Street in the Rines Auditorium if you would like to hear more about our services in person. Please RSVP below so we may prepare for the appropriate audience size.
ShifaME is open for referrals for refugee youth up to age 21 who are in need of multicultural case management or counseling.
