Spurwink Advocacy Update

By May 16, 2025Blog
Senator Collins, Eric Meyer, Kristen Farnham

It is a busy legislative season in Augusta and Washington D.C. and Spurwink leaders have been advocating on issues and bills that are important to our clients and staff. Senator Susan Collins visited Spurwink on April 17 and met with Eric Meyer and Kristen Farnham. They discussed potential cuts to Medicaid and the detrimental impact that reductions would have for Spurwink clients. Eric and Amy Cohan also met recently with Representative Chellie Pingree, again advocating for preservation of Medicaid for Maine people. At the state level, Spurwink has been very active, offering advocacy and testimony on both the state budget and multiple priority bills. In particular, Spurwink is supporting bills that address CCBHC funding, contracting, school-based services, licensing, cost of living wage adjustments, and training.
