Seth Metevier, LCPC

Seth Metevier received his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Southern Maine in 2009. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who brings over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health with children, adults and families. He has held positions at Spring Harbor Hospital, Tri-County Mental Health Services, Counseling Services Inc., Maine Behavioral Healthcare and The Opportunity Alliance where he currently serves in a supervisory capacity across the continuum of crisis services within the State. He is trained in and utilizes both traditional and holistic models of psychotherapy treatment. His counseling background is concentrated in working with adolescents and adults in dealing with anxiety, depression, emotional disturbance, relationship issues, ADHD, eating disorders, psychosis and co-occurring disorders. His therapeutic approach is grounded in CBT, mindfulness-based practices of DBT and ACT, and motivational and strengths-based therapies, and his approach varies depending upon needs of the individual. His areas of interest include crisis intervention and debriefing, mindfulness-based practices, trauma, addictive behaviors, life transitions, spirituality, grief and end of life issues, health and fitness, communication issues, suicide survivors, and self esteem. Seth views life events and transitions as powerful opportunities for change and believes in the capacity for self-healing and transformation. The focus and intention of his professional life and practice is to support individuals on their path as they navigate these events and transitions to recognize their full potential, reconnect to strengths and resources, discover healthy ways of coping and maximize overall wellness and functioning. He approaches each individual from a place of compassion, integrity and respect for where each person is at and sees the process of psychotherapy as a collaborative effort toward identifying personal barriers, understanding challenges and working towards a plan for change to enhance the quality of life. He helps to promote mind-body-spirit awareness and wellness with the goal of supporting the development of one’s natural capacity for healing and recovery of life balance.
