Sarah Libby, LCSW

Telehealth services only.

Hello! Thank you for looking me up, I know it’s overwhelming to pick a therapist once you’ve made the huge decision to even look for one! I commend you for taking care of you/your family’s/your child’s mental health and well-being.

A little about me.

I am from Maine, Maine will always be home. Two years ago, I moved to Florida where the sun shines almost every day and there is no snow to shovel. (We do have hurricane’s and tornados so I’m not entirely out of the “woods”. I continue to spend a lot of time in Maine at my families camp. There is no where in the world that is more beautiful than my home state (ok… some of the Florida beaches, and Parks are pretty amazing as well, but I’m partial to Maine).

If you are checking out my website, please know it is under construction – just giving you a head’s up. So keep checking back to see what’s new and join my mailing list.

My experience as a clinician has been with children, adults, and families for over 20 years. I’ve spent about equal time in special education social work, as I have in private practice. My last practice was in Damariscotta for 10 years, and Lisbon Falls prior to that.

While I’m versed in many theories and interventions with most populations, I’m a traditional play therapist. I have credentials from the Association for Play therapy. Telehealth play therapy??? What the heck is that. Well, since Covid, an entirely new model of play therapy has come about. It’s a magnificent way to provide intervention to children ages 6 and up, and an exceptional tool for adolescents and teens. I’m really enjoying being able to provide increased access to more of my Maine neighbors in this way. When we first talk, I’ll be happy answer any questions you have about tele-heath and anything else you want to know about. You should know that when I work with children, I’m also working parents.

I’m currently developing a practice in Florida as well as continuing my work in Maine. I also work full time in a local Middle School. I love working in schools, and I’m experienced in working with students with learning disabilities, ADHD, Anxiety, developmental disorders and intellectual and cognitive disabilities. Boy. That was a lot in one sentence! This allows me to set appointments for evenings and weekends, which is usually more convenient for everyone.

I provide free consultation via phone or a secure online tele-health system. This provides an opportunity for both of us to get an idea of if it’s worth your time to set an actual first visit with me. You are not obligated, and my feelings won’t be hurt if you decide it isn’t a good fit. In fact, I’ll help you find another therapist who might be. My goal is to get you the assistance you need.

A little about me as a person, I went to college in Maine, I have three children, 2.5 of which I have raised in Maine (the third is with me in Florida), I have 2 dogs, a cat and I love being in the outdoors; walking the beaches, the dogs and swimming (the water is warmer here 🙂

I believe in identifying strengths before needs, and assisting in identifying the best approach and interventions with the client. I’m not driving the car, they are.

I’m a fairly open book, so if you are curious, just ask. I hope you do!
