Candace Rowell is the Director of Foster Care of Spurwink’s Treatment Foster Care program. When she’s not busy leading the Foster Care program, Candace can be found spending time with family and seeking roller coaster adventures, or catching up on the latest episode of Tidying Up with Marie Condo.
When I’m not volunteering/working at Spurwink, I’m: Spending time with friends and family, kayaking, doing construction/landscaping projects, or traveling.
Spurwink program that I connect with most deeply: All three of our foster care programs.
Why behavioral health matters to me: Mental/behavioral health issues are often ignored as a cause of physical health symptoms, and stigma can shroud access to care. We don’t ignore or stigmatize issues with feet, they are treated through a specialty practice. I hope to see a day where stigmas to taking care of every part of ourselves no longer exist.
My favorite way to de-stress: Travel, especially on trips that include family and roller coasters!
Words to live by: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Mahatma Gandhi
Most interesting thing I’ve read recently: I’ve ready so many articles, especially through Harvard Business Review. I’m still trying to get through the book “The Art of Doing Nothing” (a skill I don’t have).
The music I jam to alone in the car is: I have a wide listening range, but cannot stop myself from singing along to Queen.
Favorite ice cream: Ice cream is my favorite! If I had to pick one flavor it would be mint chocolate chip.
Recent Netflix obsession: There are so many! Tidying Up with Marie Kondo is the newest obsession.
Sweet or salty?: Definitely sweet (although I do enjoy salted caramel).
Mountains or beach? Beach
