This past October 25th marked the one-year remembrance day of the tragic mass shooting in Lewiston, changing forever our shared reality in Maine. We bore witness to the lives lost, and the profound grief of families, friends and neighbors. At Spurwink, and at Tri-County Mental Health Services, our staff also served in the rapid response and long-term recovery. Even as they were grieving themselves, our teams have supported the mental health needs of all impacted people – and will continue to do so. We are committed to the long-term recovery of our community.
Spurwink held an agency-wide moment of silence on that day to reflect and remember, as we recognized the collective grief of our state, the individuals and families directly impacted, and the resilience of our communities. Several Spurwink staff attended the commemoration held at The Colisée in Lewiston in which the lives of those lost were honored and recognizing the many lives that have been changed since the tragedy.
