This summer, Spurwink’s Outpatient & Community Services team in Randolph worked together to map out and create a community garden at their Randolph location. The idea was initially brought up in a monthly meeting, and quickly took off, deciding that it was a project they wanted to take on for team building purposes, as well as the benefit of the people they serve and their families. Team members worked together to research the project, deciding what to plant, and how to go about doing so. After building two raised beds, team members and clients began the process of planting and tending to various seeds and plants. The gardens quickly took off and thrived under the care of everyone who worked on it. Many team members have enjoyed tending the garden as a midday motor break at the office, and many clients have enjoyed adding their own additions to the growing plant life outside our office. Just the other day the first veggie was harvested from the garden, and judging by the jungle-like growth there should be plenty more to follow!
