Spurwink meets people where they are, quite literally. We offer an array of community outreach services to help people stay safe and healthy.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES

HARM REDUCTION SERVICES

This program provides free access to sterile syringes, Naloxone, wound care/first aid supplies, safe sex supplies, and basic hygiene products. We offer resources, connections to getting help, recovery coaching, HIV/HEP C testing, and support.

PROJECT SUPPORT YOU (PSY)

PSY offers community partnerships with law enforcement and emergency medical services, responding to calls from individuals living with substance misuse, homelessness, and mental illness and helping them get the support they need.

OPTIONS is a program of the Maine Office of Behavioral Health, created to help people who use drugs stay alive and safe, and to connect them with harm reduction supplies, medically assisted treatment, and recovery programs.

Since PSY began, the program has reduced visits to emergency departments, saved lives with reducing the number of overdoses, and encouraged family members, landlords and bystanders to contact PSY to help others that are in need. They can be reached at (207) 344-1820.

OPTIONS liaisons are licensed behavioral clinicians who work alongside local law enforcement agencies and emergency medical services (EMS) in every Maine county to: provide short-term clinical interventions, reach at-risk communities, de-escalate behavioral health crises, engage in post-overdoes follow up, provide naloxone leave-behind kits and help families and individuals with referrals.

NEW MAINER COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER

Serving the New Mainer community in the Lewiston area, our Community Health Worker (CHW) is a liaison between New Mainers needing recovery support and connections to treatment and area resources that can help them with these needs.

The CHW provides advocacy, resources, and coordination of care. They speak Somali, French, and English and access interpreters as needed. They can be reached at (207) 344-1927.
