LEARN ABOUT SPURWINK SERVICES

Eric Meyer's OpEd as Published in the Portland Press Herald
In an effort to provide the continuing and expanded services for Mainers, we continue to reach out to our State and Federal leaders to seek support for Spurwink and others to help us weather the COVID storm. Please read this OpEd piece co-authored by Eric Meyer, President & CEO of Spurwink.

Celebrate Recovery: Learn to Administer Naloxone (Narcan)
In recognition of Recovery Month the City of Portland and Spurwink partnered together to offer a free Naloxone (Narcan) training to help our community learn how to administer Naloxone (Narcan), a nasal spray that can help reduce opioid overdoses and save lives.

Standing in Solidarity Against Racial Injustice
We are proud to be a part of Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce's initiative: Standing in Solidarity. This program is designed to educate businesses and their employees about biases, racial and social issues, societal divisions, and ultimately help “businesses become catalysts for change” in our community!
DONOR SPOTLIGHT

Donor Spotlight: Elizabeth Boyd
Jane Goodall stated, “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” Twelve-year-old Elizabeth Boyd decided to make a difference within the Spurwink community.

Giving Back Through Art
KC Jean LLC was created by mother daughter duo Kelly and Cj Gorham to creatively help those during the COVID pandemic. With the funds raised by sales of their magnets and stickers, they were able to donate $1,500 to many organizations, one of which is our Cumberland County Children’s Advocacy Center.
CORPORATE SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT

School Supply Superheroes: The Boulos Company
The brokers and employees of The Boulos Company were the highlight of our week! They dropped off box after box of school supplies for the individuals that Spurwink serves. Spurwink has seen a rise in the need for school supplies this year, as the resources normally utilized were depleted due to the pandemic.
GRANTS IN ACTION

Spurwink Receives International Paper Foundation Grant
Spurwink has been awarded a $2,000 grant from International Paper’s Auburn, ME Mill and the International Paper Foundation (IPF). Funds will support the expansion of therapeutic gardening on Spurwink’s Lewiston day treatment campus.
