Savannah Sargent

I believe in providing compassionate, client-centered treatment that harnesses each individual’s unique strengths to help them meet their goals. My approach is warm, interactive, and accepting, and I aim to help my clients build upon the strengths that they already have in order to make the changes they want to see in their lives. I believe that therapy is unique for each individual, and work with my clients to identify areas of focus that are most helpful for them.

I have worked with both children and adults in various settings, including residential and outpatient treatment. My experience includes working with adults with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders, as well as varying diagnoses including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma-related disorders. In addition, I have been passionate about helping children since I was an adolescent myself, and have spent years working with youth in various volunteer and clinical settings. I believe in creating a space where children can enjoy therapy and engage in fun activities, while also making progress towards their therapeutic goals.

I have spent significant time studying and understanding the effects that trauma has on the individual, and recognize that each person has their own individual story that affects them in different ways. Through my graduate studies and subsequent work experiences, I have received specialized training that allows me to recognize and understand the complex ways in which trauma impacts an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and have learned how to be effective in helping adults and children work through their trauma and understand the various trauma-related symptoms they make experience.

I currently work as an Outpatient Clinician in Spurwink’s Portland office, where I serve adults, adolescents, and children with a range of mental health needs.
