Spurwink Treatment Foster Care Parents: Deb & Ted Marlowe
Is foster care a revolving door? Deb and Ted Marlowe say no! They have been a resource family for foster children the past 16 years. The couple began considering foster care after their daughter graduated from high school. Read more about their story, and how to become involved with the foster care program.

National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month
January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which provides an opportunity to shine a light on this prevalent problem and the response that the Cumberland County Children's Advocacy Center (CCCAC) at Spurwink is providing for youth that experience this form of victimization.

GRANTS IN ACTION

Grants in Action: Key Bank, UPS, UWSM
Spurwink’s ability to provide behavioral health and education services for children, adults, and families in Maine is made possible through the generous support from our community. We are grateful for the support we’ve received from foundations, corporations, and the United Way from November-December, including the Key Bank Foundation, UPS, and the United Way of Southern Maine. Read more about the wide variety of programs they are supporting.

Grants in Action: Unum
For children and their parents who are refugees and experience the stress of immigration, the COVID-19 crisis can be catastrophic. The children and families Spurwink ShifaME served by have been hit with loss of income and isolation. Unum has stepped up to support continuity of care for families, allowing Spurwink’s ShifaME evidence-based, trauma-informed approach to remain constant.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

Wedding Barns of Maine
Thank you to The Barn At Flanagan Farm and The Barn on Walnut Hill for being part of the Mosaic of Spurwink and donating a share of proceeds from their weddings to Spurwink through their Love/Give program. Having worked at Spurwink earlier in his career, owner Mike Haimes shared, “I’ve had the opportunity to see the incredibly challenging work Spurwink does, and we are both excited to find ways to support its growth into the future.”
CORPORATE SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT

Corporate Sponsor Spotlight: Aetna
The pandemic’s disproportionate effect on those with behavioral health challenges and intellectual disabilities has increased the cost and need for services provided by Spurwink. Corporate Partners, like Aetna, are stepping up to the challenge. Aetna provides Spurwink with unrestricted support which allows us to provide mental health and educational services where they’re needed most.
