Celebrating 60 years of going the distance
This year marks a milestone for Spurwink: 60 years of showing care, dedication, respect, and innovation to Maine children, adults, and families. Throughout the year, we will be celebrating the people who make Spurwink a trusted leader in behavioral health and education services in Maine, and sharing their stories with you.

Diving into Spurwink's Schools
Have you ever wondered what exactly a Spurwink school is or how it differs from the public schools? Our four locations in Lewiston, Portland, Cornville, and Chelsea offer children’s day treatment programs, operating as certified Special Purpose Private Schools. These schools provide both educational and behavioral health services to approximately 180 students, ranging from kindergarten to high school.

Students create artwork for Black History and Women's History Months
During Black History Month and just preceding Women's History Month, students at our Cornville program created artwork inspired by Alma Thomas, who is know for her abstract paintings. Thomas was the first African American woman to have a solo show at the Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as having artwork entered into the permanent collection of the White House.
