Brews & Backpacks, an upcoming event benefiting children in crisis and nonprofit Spurwink, recently gained Annual Corporate Partner sponsorship from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Cate Street Capital. Scheduled for June 23 at 5:30pm in Shipyard’s new tasting room at 86 Newbury Street in Portland, this interactive public event offers Shipyard beer, food trucks, a DJ, and a chance to do good.

Community service that supports the health and wellbeing of children, adolescents, adults, and families have been long standing values that both Spurwink Services and sponsors Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Cate Street Capital share,” explains Kristen Farnham, Spurwink’s Vice President of Development. “These backpacks that Brews & Backpacks guests are invited to help fill or purchase will bring immediate comfort to distressed children entering foster care, child abuse treatment, and residential programs.

Admission to the Spurwink Brews & Backpacks community fundraiser, which includes two drink tickets and two food truck snack tickets, is $20 and can be purchased online at https://spurwink.org/event/brews-and-backpacks/

Thanks to the generosity of Shipyard, Brews & Backpacks takes place in a popular tasting room environment that encourages socializing. The volunteer activity of filling backpacks with personal care and comfort items gives attendees an additional good deed opportunity.
