The Professional Development Center was created in 2009 and is located on Presumpscot Street in Portland, Maine. The center offers consultation, training, technical assistance, and innovative programming designed to respond to the specific needs of educators, direct service providers and parents of children and adults who have mental health needs.

From de-escalation strategies to positive behavioral supports, our professional staff are experienced in a wide range of topics that can be customized to provide an effective learning experience for all participants. Our training programs are designed to be interactive, engaging, practical and relevant. Consultation services are offered to help with with on-the-job application of training content, implementation of recommended program models and dealing with individual student concerns.
The Professional Development Center offers a variety of general and professional workforce development resources, including but not limited to: training needs assessments; mandatory employee training; courses leading to OQMHP certification; and leadership development. We can develop new curricula to address specific goals or adjust program content to provide more or less focus on particular areas of interest.
Hourly, half-day and full-day trainings are available at our Portand-based facility or at an alternative location that is convenient to our customers.
