Alternative Response Program

This program provides community-based intervention services for families who have been reported to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) with allegations of child abuse of mild to moderate severity.

Overview

The goal of the Alternative Response Program is to promote family competence and connections with community resources to ensure the safety, permanence and well-being of children. Case managers work closely with families in their homes to assess strengths and needs and provide services focused on reducing risks to child welfare and improve overall family functioning. This program serves York and Cumberland Counties. Referrals are made through the State of Maine's office of Child Protective Services.
