Spurwink Services announces the launch of Spruce Point, a self-determined housing choice, assisting adults with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and other developmental delays in living apart from their families.

“Once young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders reach 18 or 22, choices for continued skill building, community integration and other life enriching activities become limited," said Dawn Stiles, LCSW, Spurwink's President. " Spruce Point bridges this gap in services and offers these adults an engaging and stimulating lifestyle opportunity regardless of physical or developmental capabilities.”

Spruce Point is a residential model that includes support services for a broad range of adults, including young adults transitioning into adulthood, middle aged adults ready to live apart from family and seniors who require ongoing supervision and socialization.

The staff-to-resident ratio within Spruce Point is high - the needs of residents dictate the staffing ratio which can range from 2:1 to 2:4. The evidence-based care approach is supported by Spurwink's 50 years of experience developing and managing residential programs for both children and adults.

“At Spruce Point we provide supportive services that enhance life," said Sonia Garcia, MBA, PhD, Spurwink's Director of Clinical Business Development. "Our approach to care is the practice of using each human interaction as an opportunity for personal discovery and growth in the adult years of life.”
